Bags of Blood Heska Donates to a Canine & Feline Blood Donor Program

We are so pleased to be able to help support the VSCNL blood donor program with reagent donations.

“It has been 7 months since starting the Canine and Feline Blood Donor program here at the Veterinary Specialty Centre of Newfoundland and Labrador (VSCNL). During this time we have seen many pets, who, without the blood donated by a fellow canine or feline compatriot, would not have been able to return home to their loved ones.”

“We’ve seen so many lives changed, and saved, with the canine and feline blood donor program here at the VSCNL. With continued support from our volunteer donors and companies like Heska, we will continue to make the lives of many pets better and healthier.”

Earth RangersHeska Makes a Donation to Earth Rangers

We were inspired by a young man named Davis who instead of asking for presents for his 7th Birthday he asked all his friends to bring a donation for Earth Rangers. Earth Rangers is a children’s conservation organization that empowers kids to protect animals and our planet. We’re so happy to be able to help Davis meet his fundraising goal to help protect Pine Martens from the threat of habitat loss!

It’s inspiring to see you people just as passionate about animals as we are. Perhaps a future Veterinarian?

LeilaHeska Donates Surgical Implants to Help the Red Deer & District SPCA

Heska is so proud to be able to answer the call for support and help the Red Deer & District SPCA get Leila back on her feet by donating surgical implants.
Leila a 2.5 year old, Mastiff Cross, was surrendered to the Red Deer & District SPCA because her owner is from Fort McMurray. The individual had returned home but was not in a position to keep his animals, so he did the best thing that he could under the circumstances, and surrendered her to the agency. After a physical exam by their Veterinarian, it was discovered that she has an injury to the cranial cruciate ligament in her right hind leg (meaning that she has a ruptured cruciate). X-rays confirmed that the cruciate is in fact torn and in need of repair. Red Deer & District SPCA quickly put the word out that they needed help to raise funds to help cover costs of this specialized surgery for Leila.Dr. Audrey Remedios donated her time to preform this surgery on Leila, and now Leila is recovering well. Please join us in supporting the Red Deer & District SPCA

Aeroplan Beyond Miles

We Donated Our Aeroplan Miles

We’re donating our aeroplan miles to the Canadian Animal Assistance Team. The Canadian Animal Assistance Team (CAAT) is a registered Canadian charity that sends in veterinary teams that volunteer their time and expertise to provide the much needed services locally. Providing these services assists the animals, the community as a whole and also dramatically reduces the burden on organizations that are trying to rehome animals every year. In one community that CAAT has been working in Northwestern British Columbia, the local animal rescue group has reported a 50% drop in their intake of animals in need of new homes since the program began in 2011.

Precious Paws RescuePrecious Paws Rescue

Each year at Christmas scil animal care company makes a donation to Precious Paws Rescue. Precious Paws Rescue is a non-profit rescue organization who is dedicated to saving the lives of homeless pets by rescuing them from pounds and shelters across North America where they are at risk of euthanasia. We are always happy to hear that our donations can help make a difference: “Precious Paws Rescue is an entirely non-profit, 100% volunteer, dog rescue. We take in dogs in need and while they are in foster care we have them fully vetted, including spayed/neutered and micro chipped (as well as any other vet care needed), before they are adopted out. Donations from companies like scil animal care company help to take care of the veterinary costs incurred by each rescue dog. Because the adoption fee does not usually cover the costs associated with getting a dog ready for adoption, we rely on the public’s support through donations to continue to be able to help dogs in need.
