Kevin P. McAbee DVM, DACVS
Dr. McAbee obtained his DVM from Colorado State University in 1999. In 2000, he completed a general internship at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital. Then, he completed a one-year surgical internship in Jacksonville FL at Affiliated Veterinary Specialists. In 2004, he finished his residency at The Animal Medical Center in New York City. Dr. McAbee became board certified in small animal surgery in 2006.
After years as a small animal surgeon in three different specialty hospitals, Dr. McAbee launched Spire Veterinary Surgery (SVS) in 2015. Since 2005, Dr. McAbee has performed thousands of Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomies (TPLO) to treat canine cranial cruciate ligament deficiency. Dr. McAbee frequently teaches courses and lectures on stifle stabilization, minimally invasive arthroscopy, and joint resurfacing around the globe.
Dr. McAbee and his wife have three wonderful children, a cat named Herbert, and a Goldendoodle named Posey.
