Ariel Fagen, DVM, DECVCP
Dr. Fagen graduated from Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. She went on to complete an intensive one-year rotating small animal internship at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital and a 3-year residency in the American College of Veterinary Behavior at Behavior Vets of Colorado and Florida Veterinary Behavior Service. In 2018, Dr. Fagen became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Behavior and founded her behavior practice, The Veterinary Behavior Center, in Boulder, Colorado. Since its founding, the clinic has blossomed into a full-service veterinary behavior practice with multiple treatment tracks, classes, workshops, and memberships. Dr. Fagen’s accomplishments vary from lecturing in the US and internationally, testifying as an expert witness in court and open forums, and conducting research studies. Her work has been published in the Journal of Applied Animal Welfare Science, AAHA Trends Magazine and NAVC Clinician’s Brief and has a book chapter in the 4th edition of Behavioral Problems of Cats and Dogs (soon to be published). She currently serves on the Fear Free™ Advisory Board and has conducted additional consulting work for them. She consults regularly for private practices, shelters, animal welfare organizations, and more.
