CE credit can not be earned for watching the recorded webinar.
Are blood gas and acid-base analysis causing your blood to boil? Register for this FREE 1-hour case-based presentation and learn from Amanda A. Cavanagh, DVM, DACVECC the importance of and the techniques for venous blood gas interpretation. The webinar will start with reviewing basic metabolic and respiratory derangements that cause abnormalities in acid base balance. Introduction to advanced interpretation will include an evaluation of electrolyte derangements and their contribution to abnormal pH. You will interpret venous blood gas results from small animal emergency cases in a step-by-step manner to fully understand contributing factors. Basic treatment plans, with goals of normalizing pH and stabilizing patients, will be introduced as part of the case discussion.
At the conclusion of this webinar, you will be able to:
• Differentiate between metabolic and respiratory causes of acid base derangements
• Evaluate a venous blood gas to determine the contributing factors to acid base abnormalities
• Understand how electrolyte derangements contribute to acid base changes
• Interpret changes in venous carbon dioxide and list disease processes that can alter this value
